Triathlon Race Day Packing List

I’m getting ready for one last weekend of serious training before my easy week prior to the actual event (Emmett’s Most Excellent Triathlon, sprint distance).  I’m nervous, so it helps me to make my triathlon morning packing list.  I have it split into three categories, because that will help me in the packing process.

Personal Gear (some of which I should be wearing, but never assume how the mind will work that morning)

  • triathlon suit (or swim suit, bike shorts and top that can transition to running)
  • swim shirt (or wetsuit)
  • swim cap ( I like to have my own lycra cap that I can get on over all my hair comfortably, then my goggles, then the event-required swim cap)
  • bike shoes
  • helmet
  • bike gloves
  • Camelbak and inner bladder
  • socks
  • running shoes  (my Moc3’s, although I will evaluate bare foot potential once I get there)
  • goggles, plus back-up pair
  • sunglasses
  • watch
  • hip bag (I keep ID and a phone with me for the bike and run)

Paraphenalia

  • bike pump(s) (one real one, one to carry on the bike)
  • repair kit/tools (do I need another list for this??)
  • extra tube
  • towel
  • bag for transition station items

Food and other Personal Items

  • lip balm
  • handkerchief
  • charged phone
  • reading glasses
  • cooler
  • lemonade
  • snacks
  • identification
  • change of clothes

Macho husband reminds me that I’ve done all of this before.  No need to stress out.  I’ll work on remembering that this week.

I’m stressed just looking at your list! 🙂 I have my travel checklist out, so am completing a similar action as you; only I believe a little less stressful. The daughter that will be close by this next week will surely help you to keep focused. Nice art work on your bag!! When is the next race event in your life after the Most Excellent one in Emmett??? 🙂
