May 5, 2013 is International Barefoot Running Day (IBRD). Barefoot running and minimalist shoe running enthusiasts all over the world will be meeting a various locations to run, inspire, and offer information to those who might be interested. The Idaho Chapter of the Barefoot Runners Society (BRS, see link in sidebar) will be meeting at Osborne Park southeast of Nampa at 1:00 PM until about 2:00 PM.
Bring your bare feet, your minimalist shoes, your water bottles, your friends, and your family. There is a short, relatively smooth section of asphalt path through the park that we will walk and run on. There will be time to answer questions and have discussions about this whole idea of being bare footed. Everyone is welcome! No prior experience with running with bare feet needed! Membership with the Barefoot Runners Society optional. 🙂

I, the Nampa Barefoot Lady, aka Laura, will be wearing my new IBRD purple t-shirt. If you want your own IBRD shirt, it can be ordered by following the store link at the top of the BRS page. It can be ordered in a wide variety of colors, so if purple is not your thing, there are more basic options. I smile every time I look at the footprint on the world. I don’t think I will ever look at a map of the world the same way again.
When I scouted things out a couple days ago, it looked like there should be plenty of parking along the road around the park. The park is tucked back behind a neighborhood, but not hard to find. Just follow S. Royal Meadow Drive south off of the section of Greenhurst Road between Happy Valley Road and Southside Blvd. It runs right into the park after a few curves. (click on map to enlarge)
There is a lot of grass, a playground, a small covered area, but not very many trees. If it is very warm, you might want to bring your own shade. I will have to double check on bathrooms and add an addendum.
Bare feet are Original Designer Foorwear – Safe. Effective. Fun. We who have already discovered the joy of running with bare feet strive to reintroduce bare soles to the Western World, one pair at a time.

I’ll have to try to remember to bring my barefeet.
It would be quite “something” if you forgot them. o.O
